Shell EPT has a large product suite covering several platforms. The intention of this project was to create a launcher application that enables the user to start any version of any application in a uniform way. It enabled also the central administration of the installed product suite (who is entitled to run which version of which product, etc.).
Because of the broad range of hardware being used, Java was chosen as an environment for the Launcher application.
